The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for controlling entry and arrangements in a high-risk confined space. A high-risk environment exists when there is a specified hazard that cannot be controlled or eliminated. There may or may not be access issues, and it is expected that work activities are carried out in the presence of a specified risk.

And for the non-water, this may include pharmaceutical, petrochemical, asbestos removal, vehicle manufacture and servicing, aeronautical, construction, communications, power, utilities, gas, electrical, and mechanical engineering, and some elements of work operations in mines, quarries, and tunnelling.
